The Patient Attendant provides direct one-to-one observation and patient care of patients at high risk of injury under the supervision of the Registered Nurse (RN). Duties and responsibilities are performed in a manner adhering to all hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
Shifts for the position are 12 hours in duration, and the potential associate must be able to work the full shift. The associate must maintain good physical and emotional well-being. The associate must possess genuine interest in caring for patients in the acute care environment. Personal qualities to include are kindness, sympathy, understanding, respect, good judgment, integrity, loyalty, a sense of humor, and the ability to relate effectively with patients, families, and coworkers.
High school diploma or GED. Mandatory Continuing Education: Customer Service, Fire and Safety, Corporate Compliance (including Confidentiality), Infection Control, and education required by regulatory, accreditation bodies, scope of practice, and/or Hancock Regional Hospital. CPR certification is required.
