We are currently seeking a qualified Staff Nurse, RN with a minimum of 1-3 years of experience working in a Hospice environment. This position will work PRN/Casual, 3-4 shifts per pay period. The scheduled shifts can vary. This position would also be on call 1 weekend per month. The ideal candidate will be able to handle situations with grace and compassion
The Registered Nurse (RN) administers nursing care to patients and/or plans, directs and coordinates the nursing care of a group of patients utilizing the nursing process and in collaboration with the healthcare team. The RN instructs patients and/or families in procedures, healthcare practices and continuing care after discharge. The RN performs duties and responsibilities in a manner adhering to all hospital and departmental policies and procedures and in compliance with professional practice standards and the Indiana State Nurse Practice Act.
Demonstrates a high level of caring and compassion for patients and families. Consistently demonstrates a commitment to patient's first both through excellent customer service and working well with the interdisciplinary hospice team. Provides professional nursing care by performing assessments to determine patient and family needs, including but not limited to physical, psychosocial and spiritual assessments. Able to initiate and follow a comprehensive plan of care, including education on end of life care. Administers medications and treatments as ordered by physician or nurse practitioner. Assist patient/family with activities of daily living. Maintains accurate documentation of patient’s condition and patient/family needs. Communicates with the case manager, physician or NP any changes in the patient’s condition and obtains orders for any new patient needs. Teaches patient and family comfort care techniques. Adheres to all reporting standards required by state and federal law, the accrediting body and HRH policies and procedures. Participates in on-call duties as necessary. Responsible for supervising hospice aides.
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing holding a valid Indiana Registered Nursing license. Minimum of 1 year of hospice experience is preferred to be considered for this position. Must have a Valid driver’s license. Responsible for supervising hospice aides. must be CPR certified for health care providers.
ADDITIONAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Mandatory Continuing Education: Customer Service, Fire and Safety, Corporate Compliance (including Confidentiality), Infection Control, and education required by regulatory, accreditation bodies, scope of practice, and/or Hancock Regional Hospital.
