    We are searching for a Medical Billing Specialist to complete a variety of billing and collections duties for all patients of the agency.


    - Examines patient eligibility to receive home care services
    - Verifies patients' insurance coverage
    - Processes, verifies and bills all Medicare, managed care claims and secondary or tertiary insurances in a timely manner
    - Responsible for collections on unpaid accounts, processing and posting payments
    - Reviews and appeals all unpaid and denied claims, ensuring claims are billed correctly and timely
    - Records payments and reconciles remittance advices
    - Reviews accounts receivable for assigned payers in order to reduce accounts receivables and enhance cash flow
    - Processes adjustment claims to Medicaid and Medicare payers on resolution of credit balance claims
    - Works directly with the insurance company, healthcare provider, and patient to ensure claims are processed and paid
    - Reviews patient bills for accuracy and completeness and obtains any missing information
    - Verifies insurance payments for accuracy and compliance with contract discounts
    - Responds to patient or insurance inquiries pertaining to assigned accounts
    - Understands and practices legal rules and regulations including the Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) guidelines


    - High school diploma or equivalent, Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred
    - Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in billing, preferably in home health or equivalent education required
    - Previous experience with DDE, Ability, and Palmetto preferred
    - Must have working knowledge of medical terminology
    - Must possess strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to provide superior customer service
    - Attention to detail and organizational skills are required
    - Ability to multi-task and perform job duties under pressure with changing priorities and short deadlines
    - Must possess a sense of responsibility and willingness to take initiative
    - Proficiency with computers and software applications necessary to perform job functions including but not limited to MS Office, MS Excel and Home Care program
